Carol Andrade, Editor, Afternoon Despatch & Courier
Carol Andrade, currently the Editor of The Afternoon Despatch and Courier, has been a journalist for the past four decades. She was in the vanguard of the entry of women into daily reporting, joining the Times of India in 1974. She left the TOI in 1979 to help start Mid-Day,following this up with another shift in 1985 to start The Afternoon Despatch and Courier. She returned to the TOI building in 1992 to work with The Metropolis on Saturday, a forerunner of a new kind of weekend journalism. Today Carol heads St Paul’s Institute of Communication Education as a course director for its post graduate programme in journalism, is on the faculty of Xavier’s Institute of Communication, and teaches a media course in the National Institute of Event Management. She has been a radio reporter with Vatican Radio for nearly three decades. She has really one, over-reaching interest in life – books and reading.
Dev Bhattacharya, Grp Exec President (Strategies), Aditya Birla Group
Dev Bhattacharya is the Group Executive President (Corporate Strategy & Business Development) and also Business Head of Solar Power Business of Aditya Birla Group, a $40 billion multinational conglomerate. In this capacity he oversees all future directions for the group, M&A as well as strategic initiatives of the group in its existing and new businesses. Prior to this, Dev was the Managing Director of Aditya Birla Minacs Worldwide Ltd., the BPO business of the Group. Since joining the Aditya Birla Group in 1996 as Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Business Development, Dev has played a pivotal role in acquisitions and joint ventures that have significantly broadened the portfolio of the group. He is a member on the board of Directors of IT and BPO companies in the Aditya
Birla Group. Dev was the recipient of the Outstanding Leadership Award of the Aditya Birla Group in 2005. Dev has also worked with Action Aid and supports several social initiatives in India like Project Crayon, Empowered Mumbai and Unite Against Aids for UNICEF.He is also a keen golfer.
Nirupa Bhatt, MD – India & Middle East, GIA India
Nirupa Bhatt heads the operations for India and Middle East of Gemological Institute of America (GIA), a non-profit organisation considered to be the world’s foremost authority in gemmology. Over the years, she has received many global honours for her contributions to the gem and jewellery industry including the “Doyenne of the Year” award from the U.S.- based Indian Diamond and Colour stone Association (IDCA); the “Eminent Personality of the Year” award from The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council; and the Women’s Jewellery Association’s (WJA) “Award for Excellence” under the category of Special Services & Education etc. Considered a stalwart within the industry, she is a member of the Governing Board of Directors of the All India Gem and Jewellery Trade Federation (GJF) and Member of the Board of GJSCI, a joint venture between GJEPC, GJF and three other trade bodies. Ms. Bhatt is the Founder President of Women’s Jewellery Association – India Chapter, whose intent is to provide educational and networking activities that would help further the careers of women in the jewellery and watch industries.
Pravin Gandhi, Partner – Seedfund
Pravin Gandhi has over 35 years of operational and entrepreneurial experience in the IT industry and impact investing space in India. He is the past president of TiE Mumbai and currently a trustee on the TiE global board. He is also an independent board member of at Avendus and Microland among others. He is an Investment Committee Member of Aavishkar– a social venture fund and a board member of SINE incubator at IIT Mumbai. A founding partner at Seedfund and with over 10 years of investing experience, Mr.Gandhi is an active private equity investor in the technology sector.
Sunita Singh, Co-founder & Sr. Director – National Entrepreneurship Network
Sunita is a co-founder of the National Entrepreneurship Network, a key initiative of the Wadhwani Foundation. NEN is India’s most vibrant entrepreneurial community, inspiring, educating and supporting high potential entrepreneurs. Over the past decade, Sunita has lead the development and deployment of a successful and scalable model for entrepreneurship capacity at academic institutions in India. In this, NEN partners closely with the Government of India, Foundations and corporate world. NEN looks to replicate this model in other emerging economies in Asia and Africa. Prior to NEN, Sunita was a part of a start-up team setting up a National PR company; she went on to head the Mumbai branch of the company for several years. Sunita serves on the advisory committees of the Government’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centers as well SIDBI Incubator at IIT Kanpur in India. She believes that entrepreneurial leadership is a critical factor for succeeding in the dynamic environment of the 21st century. And that an emerging economy like India has a huge but unrealized economic opportunity which can be fuelled through radical transformation and focus on entrepreneurship education and support. Sunita’s other passion lies in developing urban green zones to enable better quality of life and health for urban India.

Mr.Walter Vieira, the President Marketing Advisory services Group was described by Philip Kotler as one of ‘the best speakers on Marketing in Asia’. Walter has been a Visiting Professor since 1989 at the Kellogg Business School, N W University, USA; and has lectured at various prestigious universities in the US, Europe and other business schools in Asia. Walter is the only speaker to be invited to address three consecutive World Congress of Management Consultants in Rome, Yokohama and Berlin. He has been in the practice of management consultancy since 1975 when he setup the first marketing consultancy company in India. He was honoured with the Life Time Achievement Award for Consulting in 2005 and Life Time Achievement Award for Marketing in 2009. Mr.Walter Vieira has also been active in social marketing – and has been ‘probono’ consultant to Cancer Aid Society; World Wildlife Fund for Nature;Consumer Education & Research Centre; The Workshop for Mentally Challenged Women – among others.
