Hema Ganachari – Impact Head – Member Relations

Hema Ganachari with over 32 years of experience is a woman of many talents and stories to share. With an MBA, Finance and a BA (Hons) in 1976 and 1974 respectively, Hema was one of the few women in her peer group to understand early on the value of education and the role of financial independence for a woman. Her professional career in finance and international export-imports across 15 countries included Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Argentina, Dubai, Cyprus, USA and not forgetting China. Her product portfolio included auto parts and industrial goods, a distinctly male domain. Her success brought her accolades and invitation to conferences in South Africa, Egypt and Mauritius.

Hema’s  career was brought to an abrupt end due to a serious illness that had her completely home bound for over three years. Her never-give-up spirit overcame sickness and physical challenges to take up yet another demanding role as Impact Head – Member Relations at Idobro, a unique social enterprise that facilitates micro-enterprise development to create shared value through social integration and sustainability. She works closely with women, social and green enterprises to promote goods and services to consumers, corporate and communities. She believes her second calling was to satisfy her personal goals to give back to society and encourage women in particular to seek their destinies. Her love for books and the English language takes her to a part-time assignment teaching English to underprivileged students.

Hema‘s husband is the Professor and Head of Department of History at Mumbai University and her son is working and simultaneously completing and MBA in Finance. In her spare time which is sparse, Ms. Hema Ganachari enjoys painting, reading and listening to Indian Classical Music. We hope you will catch one of her exhibitions on batik painting.
